how do i find out if my old stamps have any value?
i have a box of old stamps that my great grandmother collected-they all look extreamly old-some of them still have the glue on the back, some are post marked. im sure they have to have at least some value-but im so lost as where to start! also what is the best way to sort them and store them so they stay as well preserved as possible?
Ok, first of, DO NOT TOUCH THEM, the oil on your hands can ruin them, they should be kept in separate bags, glassine envelopes are recommended, and only handled by a pair of flat nosed tongs, ones that will not cut into them. second, ther are books called scotts catalogs, and they give the price by stamp, and quality. I a, positive, that if you Google it, you can find them online, but if you want a copy, you have to buy them, or check your library, because allot of library’s ave them. I then recommend, buying a stamp book with glassene pockets in them, and storing the stamps that way. I still have my stamps, and although they are not very old, they have kept up in perfect condition with these methods. I have gotten catalogs with price listings, they ae normally free, stamps can be worth hundreds of dollars, even into the millions for some of the zeppelin stamps, so treat them like very fragile pieces of cash!
